Located on both sides of the border between historic Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire, the city now forms the Glasgow City Hall area, one of the 32 municipal areas in Scotland. Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and forms an independent municipal area that lies entirely within the historic county of Lanarkshire.
